Biography

A performer since she was able to speak, Soprano Andrea Frey's voice can be described with vibrancy and sparkle, as well as richness and depth. She has won several prestigious awards and scholarships for her artistry as a classical singer, while also displaying a charming vivacity on the musical theater stage. Most recent roles include Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment, Johanna in Sweeney Todd, and Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro. Other shows include Tosca, Cinderella, The Good Women of Setzuan, The Merry Widow, The Mikado, The Glass Menagerie, and The Ballad of Baby Doe.

Ms. Frey has had the honor of singing for noted mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade, and has performed in several masterclasses with notable coaches and accompanists from across the United States. She was the recipient of the Jessye Norman Operatic Scholarship, the Hans Mouldenhauer Music Scholarship, the Anna J. Carrel Voice Scholarship, as well as the much-coveted Spokane Opera Scholar Internship in Voice.

Her years of performance, beginning at a young age and coupled with instruction by several excellent voice teachers and coaches in Washington, have given Andrea the experience, knowledge and determination to become not only a gifted performer, but also one of the finest voice teachers in Seattle.
